Idiomatic expressions with 'ne'

ne serait-ce (que)ne serait-ce (que) / ne fût-ce que: if only / could it be that.

ne...guèrene…guère: hardly / scarcely (literary/formal).

The Restrictive ne...que (Only)

This structure looks like a negation but it actually means only.

Il ne reste que deux heures avant le départ.

= Il reste seulement deux heures.
