Also known as: me te se nous vous se · pronoms réfléchis · French reflexive pronouns
Reflexive pronouns refer back to the subject in French and are used with pronominal verbs. The forms are me, te, se, nous, vous, and se. They appear before the verb in statements and before the auxiliary in compound tenses.
Je me lave means I wash myself. Nous nous parlons can be reciprocal: we talk to each other. Reflexive pronouns also appear in idiomatic verbs such as se souvenir.
Reflexive-pronoun accuracy matters in daily-routine topics, past narration, and pronominal-verb agreement in writing.
