Speaking Section

"In the oral exam, it's not about how much French you know—it's about how much you can use under pressure."

A+BThe Structure of Success

10 Minutes

Section A: The Inquiry

Goal: Ask 10-12 relevant questions based on an advertisement.

  • Vary your syntax: Use inversion and "Est-ce que".
  • Professional register: Use "Vous" exclusively.
  • Transition phrases: "J'aimerais également savoir..."
"Bonjour, je vous appelle concernant votre annonce..."
15 Minutes

Section B: Persuasion

Goal: Convince a reluctant friend to join you in an activity.

  • Handle Objections: Don't just ignore their "No".
  • Casual register: Use "Tu" and familiar expressions.
  • Connectors: "D'ailleurs", "En plus", "Imagine si..."
"Allez, sois pas timide ! Ça va être génial..."

Top 3 Pronunciation "Score-Killers"

1. The Lazy 'R'

Most English speakers make the 'R' in the throat but too far back. It should be a soft vibration against the uvula.

2. Nasal Flatness

Confusing 'pain' (bread) with 'pont' (bridge). If your nose isn't vibrating, you aren't doing it right.

3. Final Silents

Pronouncing the 's' in 'les' or the 't' in 'petit'. These are instant "Non-Native" markers for examiners.

The B2 Difference
The "Basic" Speaker (CLB 5/6)
"Je pense que tu dois venir. C'est amusant. On va faire du sport. C'est bon pour la santé."

Problems: Repetitive "C'est", simple sentences, no persuasion logic.

The "Fluent" Speaker (CLB 7+)
"Écoute, je comprends tout à fait tes hésitations, mais figure-toi que cette activité est justement conçue pour les débutants ! Ce serait vraiment dommage de rater une telle opportunité, tu ne crois pas ?"

Success: Complex structures ("Ce serait"), Handling doubt, Rhetorical questions.
