又称: COD pronouns · le la les · French direct pronouns
Direct object pronouns replace a COD in French. The main forms are me, te, le, la, nous, vous, and les. They usually come before the conjugated verb, as in je le vois, and before the auxiliary in compound tenses.
With avoir in compound tenses, a preceding direct object pronoun can force past participle agreement: je les ai vues if les refers to feminine plural objects.
Direct object pronouns reduce repetition and are essential for accurate agreement in advanced writing and oral narration.
