又称: indefinite articles · un une des · French indefinite article
Indefinite articles introduce non-specific French nouns. The singular forms are un and une, meaning a or an, and the plural form is des, often meaning some. They agree with the noun's gender and number and are required more often than in English.
After a negative verb, un, une, and des usually become de: j'ai une voiture, je n'ai pas de voiture. Des can also become de before some plural adjectives.
Indefinite article mistakes are common among learners whose first language omits articles or uses them less systematically than French.
