The "WH-Question" Matrix (Qui, Quoi, Où, Quand, Comment, Pourquoi)

The simplest way to generate questions is to systematically go through the "Question Words".

1. QUI (Who?)

• Context: People, Staff, Groups.
• Gym: "Qui sont les professeurs ? Sont-ils diplômés ?"
• Job: "Qui sera mon supérieur direct ?"
• Apartment: "Qui sont les voisins ? Sont-ils bruyants ?"
• Volunteer: "Qui bénéficiera de cette aide ?"

2. QUOI (What?)

• Context: Objects, Equipment, Tasks.
• Gym: "De quel matériel disposez-vous ?"
• Job: "Quelles seront mes missions exactes ?"
• Apartment: "L'appartement est-il meublé ? Qu'est-ce qui est inclus ?"

3. OÙ (Where?)

• Context: Location, Parking, Accessibility.
• Gym: "Où vous situez-vous exactement ? Est-ce proche du métro ?"
• Job: "Où le poste est-il basé ? Y a-t-il des déplacements ?"
• Apartment: "Où se trouvent les commerces les plus proches ?"

4. QUAND (When?)

• Context: Hours, Dates, Duration.

5. COMMENT (How?)

• Discounts: "Proposez-vous des réductions pour les étudiants ?" (Great question!)

This is how you get points for grammar (Subjunctive/Conditional). Invent a problem and ask if it's solvable.

• Structure: "Si je [Problem], est-ce que [Solution] ?"
• Example 1 (Gym): "Si je tombe malade et que je ne peux pas venir pendant un mois, est-il possible de suspendre mon abonnement ?"
• Example 2 (Job): "Si j'ai des impératifs familiaux, est-il possible d'aménager mes horaires ?"
• Example 3 (Apartment): "Si je souhaite repeindre les murs, dois-je demander l'autorisation ?"

Why this works:

1. It shows complex grammar (Si clauses).
2. It shows you can handle hypothetical situations.
3. It forces the examiner to give a detailed answer.

5 Minutes is Long. Manage Your Time.

• Minute 0-1: Introduction. "Bonjour, je vous appelle concernant..."
• Minute 1-2: Basic Questions (Who, Where, When).
• Minute 2-3: Money Questions (Price, Deposit).
• Minute 3-4: Rules & Technical Details.
• Minute 4-5: The Loophole Questions / Friendly Closing.

Don't Rush. If you speak too fast, you will ask 15 questions in 2 minutes and have nothing left.

• Listen to the examiner's answer.
• React to the answer ("Ah, c'est parfait !" or "Ah, je vois...").
• Use transition phrases ("D'accord, très bien. J'aurais une autre question concernant...").
