10 Advanced Verbs to Stop Using 'Faire' and 'Dire'

10 Advanced Verbs to Stop Using "Faire" and "Dire"
In the TEF and TCF exams, vocabulary range is a key grading criterion using the CLB scale. Only using simple verbs like Faire (to do/make), Dire (to say), or Avoir (to have) screams "Level A2".
To reach CLB 7 (B2) or CLB 9 (C1), you need "Vocabulaire Soutenu" (Formal Vocabulary).
Here are 10 instant swaps to upgrade your speaking and writing.
1. Replacing "Faire" (To Do / To Make)
Faire is the most overused verb in French.
2. Replacing "Dire" (To Say)
In Task B (Argumentation) or Writing Task 2, you quote people or express opinions.
3. Replacing "Avoir" (To Have)
How to Practice
Don't try to memorize all 10 at once. Pick 3 that you use often (e.g., Réaliser, Affirmer, Sembler) and force yourself to use them in your next practice simulation.
Examiners have a checklist. When they hear "Effectuer" instead of "Faire", they mentally tick the "Vocabulary Range" box. It's an easy win.
