IRCC Now Accepts New TCF Canada Test Results

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has announced that it now accepts results from the new TCF Canada language test, providing French-speaking immigration candidates with an additional approved testing option. This change is significant for those seeking to demonstrate French proficiency for Express Entry or other Canadian immigration programs.

What Is the TCF Canada Test?

The TCF Canada (Test de Connaissance du Français pour le Canada) is a standardized French proficiency test designed specifically for immigration to Canada. It assesses listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. The test is administered by the Centre international d'études pédagogiques (CIEP) and is now recognized by IRCC as valid proof of French-language ability.

Practical Impact for Applicants

For candidates applying through Express Entry or other immigration streams, the acceptance of TCF Canada results expands the range of approved French tests. Previously, the TEF Canada (Test d'Évaluation de Français pour le Canada) was the primary option. Now, applicants have a choice between the TEF Canada and the TCF Canada, which may offer greater flexibility in scheduling and preparation.
