Canada's latest French-language Express Entry draw has set a new record low, with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off of just 399 points. This development, reported by cic times via Google News, marks the lowest threshold ever seen in a French-language-specific draw, highlighting the growing advantage for candidates with strong French skills.
What Happened and Why It Matters
The draw, conducted under Canada's Express Entry system, specifically targeted French-speaking skilled workers. The CRS cut-off of 399 is significantly lower than typical all-program draws, which often exceed 500 points. This trend reflects the Canadian government's ongoing commitment to boosting Francophone immigration outside Quebec, as outlined in its immigration levels plan. For candidates preparing for the TEF Canada or TCF Canada exams, this signals that achieving a high French score can dramatically improve their chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
