Algeria ranks among the top countries of origin for new French-speaking immigrants settling in Canada. In 2026, the appeal of the Canadian dream continues to grow in Algiers, Oran, Constantine, and across all wilayas of the country. Whether through the federal Express Entry program, Francophone Mobility, or Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP), proving your French language skills is the absolute key to successfully meeting the selection requirements of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
However, before packing your bags for Montreal, Toronto, or Calgary, every Algerian candidate must go through a crucial and highly competitive step: registering for and passing the TEF Canada or TCF Canada. This ultra-detailed guide is specifically designed for candidates residing in Algeria. We present the complete list of centers approved by the Institut Français d'Algérie (IFA), the step-by-step registration process, actual fees in Algerian Dinars (DZD), essential tips for securing an exam spot, and a comprehensive preparation method to guarantee achieving an NCLC 9 score.
In Algeria, official TEF and TCF Canada exams are administered under the authority of the Institut Français d'Algérie (IFA). There are five main branches located across the country:
| IFA Branch | Physical Location | Exams Offered | Session Frequency |
|---|---|---|---|
| IFA Algiers | 7, Rue Khalifa Boukhalfa, Alger-Centre | TEF Canada & TCF Canada | Weekly / Monthly |
| IFA Oran | 112, Rue Larbi Ben M'hidi, Oran | TEF Canada & TCF Canada | Monthly |
| IFA Constantine | 1, Boulevard de l'Indépendance, Constantine | TEF Canada & TCF Canada | Monthly |
| IFA Annaba | 3, Rue d'Alger, Annaba | TEF Canada & TCF Canada | Bimonthly |
| IFA Tlemcen | 1, Rue Commandant Farradj, Tlemcen | TEF Canada & TCF Canada | Bimonthly |
“Important for candidates from remote Wilayas: Exam sessions take place exclusively in person in these five cities. If you reside in southern Algeria (e.g., Ghardaïa, Hassi Messaoud, Tamanrasset) or in wilayas of the Hauts Plateaux, you must plan your travel and accommodation for the night before the exam to avoid any delays on the day.

The Algerian education system integrates French from primary school, giving candidates a solid academic foundation. Nevertheless, the exam requires a rigorous methodology. Here is how to approach the modules based on your profile:
To transform your French skills into a maximum NCLC 9 score, follow this progressive three-month action plan:
In Algeria, taking the TEF or TCF Canada represents a significant financial cost, equivalent to more than a month's average salary. Failing the exam or obtaining an insufficient score means not only losing this sum but also facing long waiting times to get a new summons, thus risking the expiration of your other immigration documents (like your English test).
Ensure your success on the first attempt.
PrepMyFrench is the only comprehensive learning tool specifically designed to prepare you for the technical realities of the TEF and TCF Canada. Thanks to our faithful exam simulations, precise AI diagnostics, and instant corrections compliant with IRCC requirements, you will know exactly when you are ready to succeed.
