TCF Writing Task 3: The Document Synthesis & Comparison Template

Task 3 of the TCF Canada Expression Écrite (Writing) is the most challenging task on the exam. You are given two short documents (approx. 100–150 words each) representing different viewpoints on a societal issue (e.g., AI in education, urban farming, or four-day workweeks).

You are required to write 120 to 180 words in two distinct parts:

1. Part 1: The Synthesis (40–60 words): Summarize and compare the viewpoints of the two documents without giving your opinion.
2. Part 2: Your Opinion (80–120 words): Give your own reasoned opinion on the topic, referencing the debate.

Here is the master template for TCF Writing Task 3, designed to guarantee clear structure and protect you from word-count penalties.
