Built PrepMyFrench because the existing options for French exam prep were either too expensive, too slow, or too generic for the specific demands of Canadian immigration language tests.
Why I Built PrepMyFrench
When I started learning French for my own Canadian immigration journey, I hit the same wall every candidate hits: there are plenty of generic French learning apps, but almost nothing designed specifically for the TEF and TCF Canada exam formats.
The practice tests that existed were PDFs with static answer keys — no speaking feedback, no writing evaluation, no way to know if your essay would actually score CLB 7. You had to pay a human tutor $40-60/hour just to tell you if your pronunciation was intelligible.
I built PrepMyFrench to solve this: an AI grading engine that evaluates your speaking and writing against the exact same criteria that TEF and TCF human raters use. Instant feedback, 24/7 availability, priced so that practicing 10 times costs less than one human tutoring session.
The platform now serves thousands of candidates across 8 languages. Our students consistently report scoring higher on their actual exams than they did on their first PrepMyFrench mock — which is exactly the outcome I was aiming for when I wrote the first line of code.
My Accountability to You
Every feature ships because a real student asked for it. The pronunciation coach, the Section B debate simulator, the CLB score tracker — these all came from user requests, not a product roadmap spreadsheet.
If the AI gives you a bad evaluation, we fix it. Every evaluation goes through quality checks. If the AI mis-scores your response, we review it and reprocess it. You're not practicing against a black box.
We read every support email. Write to us at [email protected] — I personally review the weekly support digest. If something is broken, it gets fixed.
